Securities Case Filings Remain Steady In Q1

Law360, New York (April 16, 2010, 5:13 PM EDT) -- The number of securities cases filed in the first quarter of 2010 was down 13 percent from the same period last year, indicating that the surge in securities litigation many predicted at the start of the financial crisis has not yet materialized.

According to data compiled by Law360, 408 securities cases, including those launched by private actors and regulatory agencies, were filed in the federal courts in the first three months of 2010, compared with 472 in the first quarter of 2009.
