DOI Finalizes New Offshore Oil, Gas Production Rule

Law360, New York (April 19, 2010, 3:38 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Department of the Interior’s Minerals Management Service published a final rule in the Federal Register on Monday rewriting its oil and gas production requirements for oil, gas and sulfur operations in the Outer Continental Shelf.

The amended regulations, which take effect May 19, eliminate most restrictions on production rates and set limits on the amount of natural gas that can be flared or vented.
