Obama Taps Harvard Prof. To Run Medicare, Medicaid

Law360, New York (April 20, 2010, 5:05 PM EDT) -- President Barack Obama has tapped Harvard Medical School professor Donald Berwick to lead Medicare and Medicaid as the new health care reform law brings big changes to the two government insurance programs.

The White House on Monday nominated Berwick to be administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. The president praised Berwick for dedicating his career to "improving outcomes for patients and providing better care at lower cost."
