US Seeks Damages From PG&E Over 2004 Fire

Law360, New York (April 20, 2010, 1:16 PM EDT) -- The federal government has moved for summary judgment in its case alleging Pacific Gas and Electric Co. failed to take precautions that could have prevented a 2004 fire in El Dorado, Calif., that burned more than 7,513 acres of land.

The U.S. filed a motion for interlocutory summary judgment on liability on Monday in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of California.

The government says PG&E is responsible for causing an October 2004 fire in El Dorado County known as Fred’s Fire.
