Salt Report Spurs FDA To Form Attack Plan

Law360, New York (April 20, 2010, 5:33 PM EDT) -- Seizing on a report that says Americans consume unhealthy amounts of sodium in their food, federal regulators said Tuesday that they would review the information in order to build a plan to reduce Americans' sodium intake levels.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration said it would be reviewing recommendations found in the Institute of Medicine report, released Tuesday, and would work with other federal agencies, public health and consumer groups, and the food industry to support the reduction of sodium levels.
