German Court Issues Ruling In DVD Patent Case

Law360 (January 12, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- A district court in Germany issued a string of verdicts on Friday against German DVD manufacturer Optical Disc Service GmbH, ruling the company infringed patents for a DVD standard held by a Colorado licensing company.

The rulings were a victory for Mpeg LA LLC, which sued ODS in August 2005 in Landgericht Düsseldorf, one of the leading District Courts for patent infringement in Germany.

Mpeg filed the lawsuit along with France Télécom SA, Fujitsu Ltd., GE Technology Development Inc., Koninklijke Philips Electronics NV, Matsushita Electric Industrial...
