AVX To Pay $26M For Cleanup At Aerovox Mill

Law360, New York (April 27, 2010, 6:48 PM EDT) -- A subsidiary of Kyocera Electronics Corp. has reached a $13 million settlement with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency that will ensure a vacant, polluted mill on the Acushnet River near the harbor of New Bedford, Mass., is demolished and that the entire 10-acre site is capped.

Electronic component manufacturer AVX Corp. has also agreed in principle to a second $13 million agreement with the state of Massachusetts and the city of New Bedford that will pay for further evaluation and remediation under local hazardous waste cleanup...
