Italian Company Wins Patent Decision Against Purdue

Law360 (January 16, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- After an inquiry into a recent interference, the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office said Friday that Italian company Newron Pharmaceuticals SpA should hold the only patent for certain methods of pain treatment.

Newron’s patent was challenged by an application to reissue a patent owned by Purdue Neuroscience Co., a subsidiary of Purdue Pharma LP. The USPTO declared an interference between the two patents in January 2006.
