UN Climate Chief Doubts New Treaty To Come In 2010

Law360, New York (May 3, 2010, 3:20 PM EDT) -- Yvo de Boer, the United Nations' top climate official, reportedly dismissed hopes Monday that December's climate conference would produce a new treaty, suggesting that the next meeting would at best lead to a framework for a comprehensive agreement.

The outgoing climate chief said the next major conference — set for December in Cancun, Mexico — will likely only yield an architecture for an eventual agreement, the Associated Press reported Monday.
