Apax Partners Snaps Up Tech Security Firm Sophos

Law360, New York (May 4, 2010, 1:20 PM EDT) -- Private equity investment group Apax Partners LLP will buy a majority stake in Sophos PLC in a deal that allows the data protection provider to retain a significant minority stake.

The companies said Tuesday that the deal values Sophos at $830 million, but they did not disclose the purchase price or other details of the transaction. TA Associates, a minority shareholder in Sophos since 2002, will sell its full interest to Apax as part of the transaction.
