Sens. Call For Tougher Sentences For Fraud Offenders

Law360, New York (May 4, 2010, 6:24 PM EDT) -- Members of the Senate Judiciary Committee have proposed an amendment to the sweeping financial reform legislation currently on the table that would do more to protect whistleblowers and beef up prison sentences for securities fraud offenders.

Committee chairman Patrick Leahy, D-Vt., and members Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, Arlen Specter, D-Pa., and Ted Kaufman, D-Del., announced their sponsorship of the amendment in a joint statement Tuesday.
