Sierra Club, Others Try To Block Wyo. Coal Lease Sales

Law360, New York (May 5, 2010, 3:55 PM EDT) -- WildEarth Guardians, the Sierra Club and Defenders of Wildlife are challenging a Bureau of Land Management decision to put two coal leases in northeastern Wyoming up for sale, saying the federal agency did not consider the impact the mining would have on climate change.

The environmental groups filed a notice of appeal and a petition to stay Monday with the U.S. Department of the Interior Board of Land Appeals in an attempt to overturn the agency's March 23 decision.
