Chartis Faces Coverage Suit Over Sulfuric Acid Leak

Law360, New York (May 10, 2010, 1:55 PM EDT) -- A chemical storage company has accused Chartis Specialty Insurance Co. of breach of policy for refusing to cover cleanup costs associated with a 3,200-gallon sulfuric acid leak at a Westwego, La., facility.

Blackwater New Orleans LLC is seeking a declaratory judgment that Chartis is obligated under a pollution legal liability select policy to pay for any costs, including labor expenses, dictated by environmental cleanup laws, according to a complaint lodged Friday in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana.
