Spain Targets Endesa In Electricity Antitrust Probe

Law360, New York (May 10, 2010, 5:01 PM EDT) -- Spain's competition authority launched disciplinary proceedings Monday against Endesa SA over allegations that the power utility abused its dominant market position in the electricity sector.

The National Competition Commission, or CNC, said that it would look into claims that Endesa misused information it had access to as an electricity provider to expand its activities in the electrical installation market.

The probe stems from a complaint from the National Employers Federation of Electrical Installations and Telecommunications of Spain, or FENIE. The CNC now has 18 months to...
