Interns — The Basics

Law360, New York (May 14, 2010, 3:00 PM EDT) -- As summer rapidly approaches, many employers are firming up plans to bring unpaid interns into the workplace. In fact, the Economic Policy Institute reports that 2.5 million students participate in internships each year. An internship is often highly desirable for the student or recent graduate; the young worker obtains much needed work experience, which — given the current economy and the experience and skill set of many of the unemployed — is otherwise hard to find.
