EPA To Enforce 'Pollution Diet' At Chesapeake Bay

Law360, New York (May 11, 2010, 3:41 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has agreed to take specific actions to cut certain pollutants as part of a settlement of a lawsuit by a coalition of environmental groups, trade groups and prominent politicians over cleanup efforts at Chesapeake Bay.

Under the terms of the settlement, announced Tuesday, the EPA will establish a strict “pollution diet,” known as a total maximum daily load, to restore water quality in the Chesapeake Bay — the U.S.' largest estuary — and its tributaries.
