Among Attorneys, Males More Overconfident: Study

Law360, New York (May 12, 2010, 5:38 PM EDT) -- Male attorneys are more overconfident than their female counterparts when asked to predict whether they will win their cases, though all lawyers are generally too optimistic in forecasting results, a new study has found.

The study, announced Tuesday by the University of California-Irvine and published in the May edition of Psychology, Public Policy & Law, a journal of the American Psychological Association, also found that lawyers with little experience were just as overconfident as experienced attorneys.
