Deere Goes After Great Plains Over Seed Tube Patent

Law360, New York (May 13, 2010, 2:13 PM EDT) -- In a clash of farm equipment heavyweights, Deere & Co. has accused rival Great Plains Manufacturing Inc. of infringing a patent for seed tubes used in agricultural seeding machines.

Deere filed suit Wednesday in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Iowa, alleging that Great Plains’ seed tubes incorporate technology that is protected by U.S. Patent Number 7,472,660, titled “Seed tube for an agricultural seeding machine” and issued in January 2009.
