Third Prempro Trial To Begin In Arkansas

Law360, New York (January 22, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- The third trial over Wyeth Pharmaceuticals’ controversial hormone replacement drug got underway Monday in Arkansas.

Plaintiff Helen Rush, who first sued the company in 2005, is just one of 8,300 women across the U.S. fighting the drug maker over claims its menopause treatment caused breast cancer.

Wyeth, which has been served with approximately 5,000 personal injury suits over Prempro, plans to defend each case separately, marking a change in tack for the company, which paid $21 billion to settle a slew of cases over a diet...
