Sens. Ask For BP Criminal Probe

Law360, New York (May 18, 2010, 6:24 PM EDT) -- Democratic senators on Tuesday pressured the top U.S. prosecutor to open a possible criminal probe into BP PLC's conduct related to the disastrous oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.

Sen. Barbara Boxer, D-Calif., and several of her Democratic colleagues on the Environment and Public Works Committee sent a letter to Attorney General Eric Holder, dated Monday, asking for him to look into whether the U.K.-based petroleum giant "made false and misleading statements to the federal government regarding its ability to respond to oil spills."...
