Japan Grants Samsung Hearing In Cartel Probe

Law360, New York (May 19, 2010, 2:19 PM EDT) -- The Japan Fair Trade Commission has agreed to grant Samsung SDI Co. Ltd. a hearing on a cease-and-desist order issued against the digital-display maker in February for allegedly setting prices for cathode ray tubes used in TVs.

The commission said Friday it had decided to start hearing procedures against Samsung under the Anti-Monopoly Act in response to a request from the company, which was ordered Feb. 5 to terminate the alleged cartel.
