Chinese Official Calls for Beefed-Up IP Legislation

Law360, New York (October 10, 2003, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Chinese officials are worried about the state of domestic intellecual property and fear that foreign companies are preparing for a patent war that could undercut manufacturing in the technology sector, the Xinhua news agency reported.

The situation of China's independently owned intellectual rights allows no room for optimism, Zhang Qin, vice-director of the State Intellectual Property Office, told the news agency in an exclusive interview.
