Hartford Owes $14.5M For SC Printing Fire: Jury

Law360, New York (May 21, 2010, 6:53 PM EDT) -- A South Carolina printing company has won $14.5 million from its insurer following a federal jury verdict holding Hartford Casualty Insurance Co. in breach of contract by refusing to pay for a 2008 fire that destroyed printers at the plaintiff's Greenville, S.C., facility.

Genesis Press Inc. proved through a nine-day trial that Hartford acted in bad faith by denying its claim and successfully fended off arguments from Hartford that the plaintiffs set the fire themselves to collect on the payout, an eight-member jury in the U.S....
