Western Digital Sues Cornice Over Microdrive Patents

Law360, New York (July 1, 2004, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Western Digital has joined Seagate Technology in suing rival microdrive disk manufacturer Cornice for patent infringement.

The suit, filed in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California, cites seven Western Digital patents that it claims have been infringed by Cornice's one-inch microdrive, the Storage Element or SE. Both Western Digital and Seagate want Cornice manufacturing to cease and damage payments made.
