Arcelor South Africa Could Be Forced To Divest

Law360, New York (May 21, 2010, 4:29 PM EDT) -- The South African arm of ArcelorMittal will be hit with “most vigorous remedies” if the country's competition commission finds the steel giant used its market clout to push through a recent increase in prices, South African Trade and Industry Minister Rob Davies reportedly said.

Johannesburg's Business Day reported Davies' remarks on Thursday.

Arcelor added a surcharge to steel prices March 30 that it attributes to a commercial dispute with Sishen Iron Ore Co., an ore supplier.
