Chilean Gas Companies Escape $2.3M Fine

Law360, New York (January 23, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- In a defeat for Chile’s antitrust regulator, the country’s Supreme Court has overturned about $2.3 million in fines against four industrial and medical gas companies that were accused of collusion.

The unanimous decision, reached Tuesday, put an end to a case that began one and a half years ago. When reached by telephone, a spokeswoman for Chile’s antitrust regulator, the Fiscalía Nacional Económica (FNE), said it had run out of options and that the decision was final.
