CMS Offers Temporary Fix For Medicare 'Donut Hole'

Law360, New York (May 24, 2010, 5:27 PM EDT) -- The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services has unveiled a plan to give senior citizens a 50 percent discount on prescription drugs if they fall in the Medicare “donut hole” in 2011, a measure designed as a stopgap until the comprehensive health care reform law takes effect.

CMS on Friday revealed a draft of a discount agreement all drug companies would have to sign in order to participate in Medicare. The agreement would apply to brand-name and some authorized generic drugs.
