RRI Accused Of Polluting River At Pa. Power Plant

Law360, New York (May 24, 2010, 6:52 PM EDT) -- Four environmental organizations said Monday that they planned to sue RRI Energy Inc. for violating the Clean Water Act and dumping aluminum, manganese and iron from a coal-powered power plant near Pittsburgh into the Conemaugh River.

PennEnvironment, Citizens For Pennsylvania's Future, Defenders of Wildlife and the Sierra Club said they had sent letters to the company and federal and state regulators, pursuant to the Clean Water Act, announcing their intent to sue. The groups allege RRI had amassed 12,000 violations.
