Loumidis Joins Suit Against US Over EU Food Sanctions

Law360, New York (May 25, 2010, 5:57 PM EDT) -- Greek cuisine company Loumidis Foods Inc. has added its name to a list of companies suing the U.S. government over sanctions against European Union members designed as retaliation for Europe's refusal to import American meat from animals treated with certain hormones.

The Beef Hormone Regime sanctions unfairly require the Queens, N.Y.-based company to pay 100 percent customs duties on beef and other food products it imports from Europe, according to a complaint Loumidis filed Monday in the U.S. Court of International Trade.
