University of Wisconsin Group Sues Sony, Toshiba Over Chip Production Technology

Law360, New York (October 27, 2003, 12:00 AM EST) -- A group representing the University of Wisconsin has filed suit against Japanese electronics giants Sony and Toshiba in Madison over alleged patent infringements related to main chip used by the Sony Playstation 2 game console, CNET News reported Monday.

The suit was filed by the Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation (WARF), the group that administers patents obtained by researchers at the University of Wisconsin obtain.
