EU To Further Probe Unilever's €1.3B Sara Lee Deal

Law360, New York (May 25, 2010, 6:47 PM EDT) -- The European Commission has put Unilever PLC's nearly €1.3 billion ($1.9 billion) acquisition of Sara Lee Corp.'s personal body care business on hold in order to take a closer look at the effects of the proposed transaction on market share.

The European Union's antitrust watchdog needs more time to determine “the full implications of the deal from a competition perspective on particular European markets,” Unilever said in a statement Tuesday.
