'Misleading' Louis Vuitton Ads Banned In The UK

Law360, New York (May 26, 2010, 6:34 PM EDT) -- The U.K.'s advertising watchdog on Wednesday banned two Louis Vuitton ads for misleading consumers into believing that the company's handbags and wallets are handcrafted.

The Advertising Standards Authority, an independent advertising regulator, determined that the print ads breached the British Code of Advertising's truthfulness clause and that the ads must not appear again in their current form.

The regulator said it had received three complaints that the ads, which portrayed stylized interpretations of a handbag and a wallet's production, misleadingly implied that the LVMH Moet Hennessy...
