House Panel Ups State Water Funds To $1.8B

Law360, New York (May 27, 2010, 4:51 PM EDT) -- The House Energy and Commerce Committee has approved legislation to reauthorize and increase funding for state revolving funds under the Safe Drinking Water Act, including new assistance for states and tougher rules against dangerous contaminants.

H.R. 5320, the Assistance, Quality and Affordability Act of 2010, was approved by the full committee Wednesday by a vote of 45-1. Rep. John Shadegg, R-Ariz., cast the only vote against sending the amended bill to the House floor for a final vote.
