MMS Faces More Suits Over Exploratory Drilling Permits

Law360, New York (May 27, 2010, 5:30 PM EDT) -- Two new lawsuits have come in against the embattled Minerals Management Service seeking to force the agency to go back and look at exploratory drilling plans in the Gulf of Mexico that, like BP PLC's Deepwater Horizon plan, were approved without environmental review.

One suit, filed Thursday in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, focused on all 49 exploration plans that were exempted from environmental review within the statute of limitations.
