Mich. Legislature Balks At FCC's Broadband Plan

Law360, New York (May 27, 2010, 3:57 PM EDT) -- Michigan lawmakers have passed a resolution to petition the federal government to block the Federal Communications Commission's efforts to regulate Internet broadband services as common carriers under Title II of the Communications Act.

The development of the Internet over the past 25 years is due, in large part, to unregulated private enterprise that would be curbed by tighter restrictions, state representatives said in a resolution passed Wednesday. An identical statement passed the state Senate on May 19.
