NC Wants Cap Lifted On BP Damages

Law360, New York (May 27, 2010, 3:23 PM EDT) -- North Carolina lawmakers have introduced legislation to remove the existing cap on damages the state can recover from BP PLC as a result of the massive oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.

Identical bills were filed Tuesday in the state's House of Representatives and Senate. The bills would lift federal restrictions on BP's liability for damages to the state's public resources and the cost of cleanup.
