Thailand Mulls Breaking Patents On Two Drugs

Law360 (January 25, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- The Thai government is reportedly set to unveil plans to issue compulsory licensing for two high-cost drugs amid widespread criticism from multinational drug companies.

Thailand's public health minister, Mongkol Na Songkhla, will reveal details on Jan. 29 of the government’s plans to break patents on two drugs, reportedly one used to treat HIV/AIDS and another for heart disease, the Associated Press reported, citing a ministry official’s comments on Thursday.
