Italy Probes Eni, Shell On Bitumen Price-Fixing Claims

Law360, New York (May 28, 2010, 1:21 PM EDT) -- Italy's antitrust watchdog has launched an antitrust investigation into complaints that nine energy companies — including Eni SpA, Shell Italia SpA and Exxon Mobil Corp. unit Esso Italiana — conspired to keep the price for bitumen artificially high.

The Autorita Garante della Concorrenza e del Mercato inspected the headquarters of a number of the companies Thursday as part of the probe opened May 19.
