DOI Fights Doc Requests In Enviro Spat With Zurich

Law360, New York (May 28, 2010, 3:58 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Department of the Interior is fighting a request from Zurich Insurance Co. for reams of documents connected with San Francisco's Presidio, a former army base turned national park that has a costly environmental cleanup bill Zurich wants to avoid.

Zurich's subpoena requires the DOI and National Park Service to go through thousands of boxes — some so old they are infested with silverfish — within a matter of weeks, an “undue and impermissible burden,” the DOI said in a motion to quash filed Thursday...
