LinkedIn Suit Highlights Weak Spot In Noncompetes

Law360, New York (June 1, 2010, 8:00 PM EDT) -- IT staffing firm TEKsystems Inc.'s recent lawsuit alleging a former employee's use of social networking site LinkedIn violates her noncompete agreement is a cautionary tale for employers drafting restrictive covenants in the digital age, attorneys say.

TEKsystems, a subsidiary of Allegis Group Inc., sued former employee Brelyn Hammernick in March, alleging she had used the online professional networking service to communicate with at least 20 of her former colleagues.
