AFL-CIO Boosts Efforts To Pass Union Law

Law360 (January 25, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- The AFL-CIO is increasing its efforts to drum up support for the union-friendly Employee Free Choice Act, a key piece of bipartisan legislation pending in Congress that the labor federation vows would significantly improve the lives of workers nationwide.

AFL-CIO organizing director Stewart Acuff told reporters during a conference call on Wednesday that while the fight to protect workers’ rights to organize isn’t new, “what is new is that the time is right to escalate this fight.”
