BP Loses Fuel Tariff Challenge

Law360, New York (June 2, 2010, 2:40 PM EDT) -- A federal judge has shot down a challenge by BP Products North America Inc. to the tariff classification of two premium grade gasoline entries, granting the U.S. government's motion for summary judgment against the oil giant.

Judge Jane A. Restani of the U.S. Court of International Trade ruled Tuesday that BP's 93 octane conventional gasoline was properly classified as “motor fuel” under the Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the U.S.
