U.S., European Regulators To Step Up Cooperation

Law360, New York (January 25, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- Eyeing the pending merger between exchanges Euronext N.V. and NYSE Group Inc., the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission and a group of European regulators on Thursday signed an agreement aimed at ensuring oversight, investor protection and market stability.

The so-called memorandum of understanding between the SEC and the College of Euronext Regulators will go into effect as soon as Euronext Paris S.A. announces that the standards for the merger have been reached.
