Patent Office Pitches Fast-Track Examination System

Law360, New York (June 3, 2010, 5:14 PM EDT) -- In an effort to reduce the waiting period for applications, the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has proposed a new patent examination initiative that would allow applicants to pay more to have applications examined faster.

In a statement Thursday, the agency outlined its proposal for a three-track program in which applicants could pay an unspecified fee to have their application moved to the front of the line.
