FCC's Clyburn Defends Title II Move For Broadband

Law360, New York (June 4, 2010, 5:13 PM EDT) -- The commissioner of the Federal Communications Commission has come out in defense of the agency's planned reclassification of broadband services, describing FCC Chairman Julius Genachowski's Title II-Forbearance hybrid proposal as the most efficient and least burdensome way to address the pressing telecommunications challenges of the day.

The new plan will not box broadband into regulations developed decades ago for telephones or chill investment and innovation, FCC Commissioner Mignon Clyburn said Thursday during a speech at The Media Institute.
