Pfizer, West-Ward Recall IV Drugs Over Contamination

Law360, New York (June 8, 2010, 7:30 PM EDT) -- Citing contamination concerns, West-Ward Pharmaceuticals Corp. has launched a voluntary recall of intravenous medications Ondansetron and Metronidazole, and Pfizer Inc. has initiated a recall of these two products as well as intravenous antibiotic Ciprofloxacin.

Both companies announced their recalls Thursday following the revelation that the products' manufacturer Claris LifeSciences Inc. had received reports of the presence of nonsterility and floating matter in the three products.
