Travelers Sues To Skip Arbitration In $47M Dorm Spat

Law360, New York (June 9, 2010, 6:45 PM EDT) -- Travelers Casualty and Surety Co. of America has launched a lawsuit seeking a judgment that it is not required to enter arbitration in a $47 million design defect spat between contractor Capstone Development Corp. and the nonprofit development arm of Southeastern Louisiana University.

Travelers' complaint, lodged Tuesday in the U. S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana, comes as Capstone and University Facilities Inc. arbitrate their dispute over a slew of alleged defects in a multiphase project to build four dormitories in Hammond, La....
