EPA Drops $7M Frontier Refining Fine To $900K

Law360, New York (June 9, 2010, 6:43 PM EDT) -- After challenging a proposed $7 million fine, Frontier Refining Inc. has agreed to pay $900,000 to resolve the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's claims that it dumped harmful waste into a water treatment pond that was not properly built to prevent and detect leaks.

According to a consent decree between Frontier and the EPA, the company has agreed to disconnect inlet piping that released hazardous waste into the water treatment pond in addition to removing all waste and removing an existing pond liner at the Cheyenne, Wyo.,...
