GM Hauls Insurer To Court For Asbestos Claims

Law360, New York (January 29, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- Not content with a ruling it received in a Michigan court, General Motors Corp. took its case against Royal & Sun Alliance Insurance Group to the Delaware Chancery Court on Friday, accusing the insurance company of trying to avoid paying over $500 million in asbestos claims.

The new lawsuit echoes the one dismissed in Michigan last week, alleging that Royal & Sun breached its contract with GM when it failed to pay legal liabilities from asbestos-related personal injury and property damage claims.
