Smith & Nephew Sues Rival Over Cutting Tool Patent

Law360, New York (June 10, 2010, 1:07 PM EDT) -- Medical device maker Smith & Nephew Inc. has accused rival Interlace Medical Inc. of infringing a patent for an instrument used to remove semirigid tissue during a surgical procedure.

Smith & Nephew claims in a complaint filed Wednesday in the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts that Interlace has willfully and deliberately infringed at least four claims of U.S. Patent Number 7,226,459 through its MyoSure tissue removal device.
